Gas Prices Cross the $4 Mark in Nearly Every State

Gas prices were relatively flat this week, remaining at their highest level in nearly four years. As of May 18th, weekly prices were down 1 cent for regular and were unchanged for premium.

Currently, the national average for regular gasoline stands at $4.49 per gallon, with premium averaging $5.45. These prices represent a significant jump since the start of the year, with regular gas up 60% and premium up 45%. Compared to one year ago, regular gas is 42% more expensive (up from $3.17), while premium has seen a 32% increase (up from $4.12).
