Venerated Voices™ Ranks Economic and Market Commentaries Most Read by Financial Advisors
2015 Q2 Rankings
Advisor Perspectives, a leading publisher serving financial advisors and the financial advisory community, has announced its Venerated Voices™ awards for articles published in Q2 of 2015. Rankings were issued in three categories: The Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm, The Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Author and The Top 10 Venerated Voices™ by Commentary.
Leading the Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm category was Austin, Texas’s Hoisington Investment Management, followed by Lance Roberts’ Streettalk Live. In third place was Minneapolis’ Leuthold Weeden Capital Management.
Among individual commentators, the most-widely read were Lacy Hunt and Van Hoisington of Hoisington Investment Management, followed by Catherine LeGraw of GMO. Third place went to Lance Roberts of Streettalk Live.
The most-widely read commentary of Q2 was Dalbar: Why Investors Suck And Tips For Advisors by Lance Roberts of Streettalk Live, published April 8th. Roberts discusses Dalbar’s annual Quantitative Analysis of Investment Advisors study, which details investors’ poor performance relative to market benchmarks. Of the two proposed reasons for this, Roberts suggests that psychological factors are more important than the lack of capital. Roberts provides Dalbar’s tips to avoid these common investor pitfalls.
In second was The Real Financial Crisis That Is Looming, also by Lance Roberts, published May 5th. In this piece, Roberts suggests that the next financial crisis will not be primarily due to a market crash, but a result of the absence of retirement and general savings in the majority of the working population. The lack of capital to invest and the ever-increasing wealth gap are some of the major reasons Roberts gives for this imminent collapse.
Third place went to Recessionary Level in Credit Conditions by Alexander Giryavets of Dynamika Capital L.L.C., published April 1st. Giryavets suggests a recent mini credit crunch using the Credit Managers Index (CMI) and GDPNow. He provides several charts, including the more detailed manufacturing and services CMI, to support his claim.
Advisor Perspectives’ website currently attracts over 175,000 unique visitors per month, virtually all of them financial advisors serving high- and ultra-high net worth individuals. The company publishes economic and market commentaries that were submitted by fund companies, advisors and independent research firms. In Q2, over 750 such commentaries were published and made available through a daily newsletter, Research Perspectives, which the company emails to its subscribers.
Venerated Voices™ rankings were determined by the number of unique readers of each commentary, using data provided electronically by the third-party web analytics service WebTrends. The data was normalized to reflect the fact that usage of Advisor Perspectives’ website grew steadily over the course of the quarter. While the annual awards for the firm and author require a minimum of three commentaries during the year, any participant is eligible to receive a quarterly award. Each firm and author was assigned a relative score, with a score of 100 equal to average readership.
Advisor Perspectives was founded in 2007 and is based in Lexington, Massachusetts. In addition to Research Perspectives, it publishes a widely read weekly newsletter, Advisor Perspectives, which contains original articles on the markets, the economy and practice management.
Advisor Perspectives will continue to provide quarterly updates to its rankings, as well as issuing annual Venerated Voices™ awards.
